Earth Day Equals Eco Friendly Shoes
Well here we are celebrating another Earth Day. I remember when I was in school the teachers would have all these little activities planned for us so we could do our part at preserving the earth like picking up trash, using recycled school paper and a couple of other things. The first time Earth Day was celebrated was on April 22, 1970 with 20 million Americans participating and it has been going strong since then. The initial focus for Earth Day was to try and prevent oil spills, toxic dumps, raw sewage from being spilled and dumped into our drinking water, pesticides from being used, and freeways from being built which was destroying wilderness and wildlife.
While this is still on the list of things to do, other campaigns have been started that focus on global warming and cleaner energy. Earth Day also focuses on recycling and the use of natural materials. We can all do our part with just a little bit of effort even if it’s only planting a tree or cutting that light off when you leave the room. Then again you could always go Eco Shopping.
